Your certified guide to the

the safe and sound protocol

Shenikka Moore-Clarke, LICSW

  • 1:1 Support

I will meet with you initially over zoom to get you started. Together we will determine the appropriate amount of listening that is best for you. I will expect regular updates from you and will be available to offer support via email.

The protocol is a 5- day protocol for adults involving 60 minutes of music listening, however everyone responds differently and some individuals may need to break the sessions up. This may mean that the protocol may take several weeks based on what your nervous system needs.

  • Access SSP VIRTUALLY

You will be provided with access to the SSP through an app where you can listen to the filtered music from the comfort of your home or anywhere.

    What’s Included

-Initial zoom SSP consultation on zoon to offer support and guidance to get started and somatic practices to support your nervous system.

-4 weeks of SSP short email support

-4 weeks of SSP remote access to the filtered music via the Unyte APP. (Extra charge will apply for SSP beyond the 30 days)

Total SSP remote access & support ($300)

For groups of 2-3 people ($250)

Additional $25 for each week beyond 4 weeks

  • HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Safe and Sound (SSP) is a music-listening intervention designed to train the middle ear muscles to focus on the frequency envelope of human speech.

As you listen into the SSP your body will move out of fight, flight or freeze response and settle into a ventral vagal state. This state allows for us to experience connection (to self and others), feel curious, feel calmer and promotes feelings of safety.

The SSP can be supportive to resolving physical symptoms. When our nervous system can down regulate out of a threat response every system in our body gets a break.

BENEFITS OF THE SSP

People feel safer, as their fight, flight or freeze response is less engaged. People are more able to socially engage with others. They can more listen and understand others. They can more listen and understand others, including the emotional meaning of language. Over time, the person is better able to learn, engage and self-regulate.

WHO Is It foR?

The SSP is suitable for children and adults, and has been designed to work with a diverse variety of therapeutic approaches and modalities.

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Auditory Sensitivity

  • Inattention and focus

  • Sleep

  • Trauma/PTSD

  • Autism spectrum

  • Emotional Dysregulation

  • Speech and Language

  • Social and Emotional Difficulties

  • Digestive Challenges

nervous system regulation is for everyone

what is the safe and ound protocol?

The Safe and Sound Protocol(SSP) is an acoustic vagus nerve stimulator developed by Dr.Stephen Porges based on his Polyvagal Theory. The purpose of the auditory intervention is to engage the ventral vagal complex through the neutral network associated with listening. This allows for the repatterning of neutral networks and improved regulation of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) for lasting change. The SSP trains the middle ear muscles to tune-in to cues of safety signaled by the frequencies of human voice, which stimulates the social engagement system through the neural network associated with listening. Some of the changes that occur with SSP may occur immediately. Most changes occur over 3 months or more as each person is able to engage and relate in new ways.
